Are you Prepared?
Here are some things you can do to prepare for an emergency – Learn more at: GETPREPARED.GC.CA
- Download a copy of our Resident Emergency Handbook
The Resident Emergency Handbook has been developed for all residents of Predator Ridge (whether renting or owning). It contains easy to-understand information on home and personal emergency prevention/ mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery, to help our residents be better able to help themselves, family members and neighbours. - Assemble an Emergency Survival Kit.
Your goal should be to be self-sustaining for at least three days (72 hours). Check the kit regularly (like your smoke detectors).
There are 6 basics you should stock in your home: water, food, first aid supplies, tools and supplies, clothing and bedding.
Keep the items that you would most likely need during an evacuation in a waterproof backpack or duffle bag and make sure everyone knows where to find the family emergency survival kit. - Teach children how and when to call for help.
- Learn First Aid, CPR, and how to use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
The PRCEMC organizes courses, and you can also find other courses available in Vernon. - Make a Family Emergency Plan
Pre-determine a meeting place and message point for family members who are separated by the emergency. This may be a friend or family member in a different community. - Remember Your Pets.
If forced to evacuate, remember your pet(s). Leaving pets behind, even if you try to make a safe place for them, is not the best option. Most emergency shelters cannot accept pets, except for service animals (such as dogs for the visually impaired), so please plan ahead.
