Since 2022, both Predator Ridge and the Predator Ridge Community Safety Committee (PRCS) have received numerous concerns from residents regarding increased traffic volume and the speed at which some vehicles have been observed traveling. These concerns have primarily come from areas such as Predator Ridge Drive (particularly near the fitness centre) and on to the Outlook, Birdie Lake Drive, Longspoon Drive, and the less-visible intersection at Falcon Point and Birdie Lake Drive.

As our community continues to grow, with an increasing number of residents, ongoing construction in the Outlook area, heightened activity from guests, and commutes from Sparkling Hill and Predator Ridge staff, as well as service vehicles, concerns regarding traffic volume and speed have intensified.
In 2022, the City of Vernon was contacted regarding the junction at Falcon Point and Birdie Lake. While they did not address speeding concerns on Birdie Lake Drive at the time, they did reinstall the stop signs properly, added white stop lines and a “Stop Sign Ahead” warning for vehicles coming downhill. These small changes have helped, though concerns remain.
However, between 2022 and 2024, we have seen a steady rise in resident feedback about both the volume and speed of traffic, particularly during certain times of the day. And now there is additional concerns with the announced residential expansion of Sparkling Hill.
Two key issues have been identified:
- Traffic Volume and Speed – Especially noticeable during peak hours on Predator Ridge Drive and Birdie Lake Drive. (7 am – 8:30 am) (3:00 pm to 5:00 pm)
- Ongoing Speeding – Reported at various times along Longspoon and Birdie Lake Drives.
To help better understand and respond to these concerns, a Community Road Safety Sub-Committee has been formed with representatives from the affected areas:
Jane Toppozini (PRCS Lead), Rick Williams, Catherine Irwin, Karen Grimsrud and Arlinda Fontorua
Together, we have been working to explore practical solutions that will help keep our roads safe for everyone.
